This release is part of a new agreement between Snoop Dogg's Death Row Games and New Regency to adapt the film library into titles for the popular gaming platform.
The collaboration, spearheaded by Death Row Games' Good Game Champ division, will utilize Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), starting with In Time. This adaptation is touted as a "natural fit for the dynamic UEFN platform, offering fans an unparalleled 'AAA gaming experience.'
The film, directed by Andrew Niccol, features Timberlake alongside Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, and Olivia Wilde, and currently holds a 36% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to New Regency, In Time is set in a dystopian society where time is used as currency, exploring themes of stark inequality and survival that hinge on every second. Its compelling narrative and themes of resistance offer a wealth of storytelling potential.
New Regency has an exciting slate of upcoming projects, including Steve McQueen’s Blitz streaming on Apple TV+, a second season of Amazon's Mr. & Mrs. Smith featuring Donald Glover in pre-production, and Prime Target with Leo Woodall set for release on Apple TV+ in 2025. Additionally, they are currently filming Man on Fire for Netflix.
"New Regency has produced some of my favorite films, making the collaboration with Yariv [Milchan] and his team a seamless process," said Cordell Broadus, CEO of Death Row Games. "They recognize that UEFN is central to the creator economy. When we developed the Tee Grizzley map, our goal was to create spaces that resonate emotionally with our culture. This partnership allows us to bring that same authenticity to Fortnite, ensuring that cultural representation is woven into IP integration."
Yariv Milchan, chairman and CEO of New Regency, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: "We’re excited to embark on this innovative journey in gaming and storytelling with Death Row Games. The launch of In Time signifies the beginning of a transformative experience in immersive storytelling. We have always admired Snoop’s diverse body of work and creative journey, and we deeply respect what he and Cordell are building at Death Row. This timely collaboration aligns perfectly with New Regency’s mission."
