Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck is finally making its way to audiences. After winning the People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the film has stayed under wraps — until now. NEON has released the first full-length trailer, confirming a theatrical release date of June 6, 2025.
Adapted from Stephen King’s 2020 book If It Bleeds, the story unfolds in reverse: beginning with the death of Chuck (Tom Hiddleston) and moving backward through his life, ending in his childhood at a supposedly haunted orphanage. The cast also features Karen Gillan, Kate Siegel and Jacob Tremblay.
The film’s TIFF win places it in strong company — twelve of the last fourteen People’s Choice winners have gone on to receive Best Picture nominations, with four winning the Oscar. Previous winners include Nomadland, Jojo Rabbit, and 12 Years a Slave.
Flanagan remains a prominent voice in genre storytelling, best known for his Netflix hits like Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House. His filmography also includes Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game, and Hush, and he’s now set to launch a new Exorcist trilogy with Blumhouse. Whether Chuck earns awards recognition or becomes a cult favorite, its first trailer promises an emotional and visually rich experience.
