While the new action movie starring Jason Statham continues to collect good box office receipts, a film starring another legend of the genre also receives an unexpected dose of success — albeit several months after a total failure.
The recent thriller starring Sylvester Stallone was released back in November last year, but earned almost nothing at the box office, and critics completely tore it apart on all fronts. Now, however, the action movie has a chance to at least restore its reputation a little — as usual, thanks to streaming.
Armored suddenly "broke" into the top charts of foreign streaming
The flop crime thriller suddenly grabbed everyone's attention after being available on Prime Video since November; now, Armored has become a huge hit with viewers in the UK and Ireland, ranking third and first in the local charts, respectively.
The film follows father and son James and Casey, who work as cash collectors and are tasked with delivering a suspicious-looking package. Halfway to their destination, they are blocked by a group of bandits, and they themselves have yet to find out that the package contains millions of dollars.
Armored received record low ratings from critics
The film proved that even a famous actor in the lead role can't save a bad script - immediately after its release, Armored acquired 0% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences, however, were slightly more favorable, giving the film a 28% "freshness" rating, but still calling it a disappointing film in which absolutely everything is bad.
