MobLand, the highly anticipated crime drama, has an interesting backstory linked to the Ray Donovan series. Originally planned as a spinoff called The Donovans, the show was meant to continue the story of the popular family from Ray Donovan. However, after the series ended in 2020, the story was left unfinished. The film Ray Donovan: The Movie gave fans some closure in 2022.
The spinoff was originally intended to expand the Ray Donovan world, but after a long break, the project was reworked. Instead of directly continuing the Donovan family story, the show was renamed MobLand and became a fresh, standalone story. It still includes similar themes of crime, power, and betrayal but doesn’t have direct ties to Ray Donovan.
Now, MobLand will focus on the criminal underworld of London, with a star-studded cast, including Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren. Directed by Guy Ritchie, MobLand brings a new spin to crime dramas.
The series is set to premiere on Paramount+ on 30th March 2025. This rebranding allows the series to explore new storylines while maintaining the gritty crime drama essence fans love.
