As reported in April, Coppola had established plans for Glimpses of the Moon several months before Megalopolis debuted at Cannes, and it appears production might commence soon.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Coppola shared that after celebrating the Christmas holidays with his family, he will move to London to start filming Glimpses of the Moon. He describes the film as a "strange '30s-style musical," though no cast has been announced yet.
The film will adapt Edith Wharton's novel of the same name and is inspired by Leo McCarey's The Awful Truth. Both stories revolve around married couples who amicably separate, only to find it more difficult to let go than they initially believed.
Coppola has mentioned that the upcoming film will feature "strong dance and musical elements," adding, “I’ve turned it into a very odd confection.” Interestingly, his only previous musical, 1981's One From the Heart, could also be described as an “odd confection.”
He further explained that Glimpses is being “funded the conventional way, with national subsidies, because I’m all borrowed out,” emphasizing that while it “won’t be cheap by any means,” it won’t have the epic scale of Megalopolis.
After shooting and releasing Glimpses, Coppola plans to turn his attention to his final film, titled Distant Vision, which he describes as "immense" and "more ambitious than Megalopolis.” You can find more details about that project here.
