Actor Karen Karagulyan from Anora had his moment in the spotlight at the annual Film Independent Spirit Awards. Host Aidy Bryant paid tribute to Mikey Madison, with a little help from Karen.
During one of host Aidy Bryant’s appearances, no one expected to see Karen Karagulyan by her side — but he had a special mission. Bryant decided to take a chance and pay tribute to Mikey Madison by stepping onto the stage in towering heels. Without Karagulyan, she wouldn’t have made it. With effortless grace, he guided her across the stage on a special platform.
Bryant took the moment to thank Karen for his help, meanwhile encouraging the audience to applaud Karagulyan for his brilliant performance in Anora.
"I have to say, I really wanted to honor Anora, but these shoes are just too damn high. My God — who… oh, nothing but respect for Mikey Madison. Unbelievable! Karen Karagulyan saw me struggling and pushed me out here. You were amazing in Anora, and now you’re the protector of my ankles!" she joked.
Anora was nominated for six awards at the 2025 Film Independent Spirit Awards and won three of them: Best Director for Sean Baker, Best Movie, and Best Lead Actress for Mikey Madison.
