Netflix has officially cast Sam Worthington (Avatar) as the lead in its upcoming limited series I Will Find You, based on the bestselling novel by Harlan Coben. This eight-episode thriller marks the first U.S. adaptation of a Coben book under his exclusive deal with the streamer.
A Wrongfully Convicted Father’s Desperate Mission
Worthington takes on the role of David Burroughs, a man serving a life sentence for the murder of his own son — a crime he didn’t commit. Every day in prison is a punishment, not just for the crime he was falsely accused of, but for the tragic loss he believes he suffered. However, when shocking evidence surfaces suggesting that his son may still be alive, David is left with no choice — he must escape prison and uncover the truth.
A Powerhouse Creative Team Behind the Series
Coben co-created the adaptation alongside Robert Hull (God Friended Me), who also serves as the showrunner. The executive producer team includes Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien, and John Weber, ensuring a gripping and well-crafted narrative. Netflix has previously found major success with its Coben adaptations, including the British hit Fool Me Once, Stay Close, The Stranger and the recently released Missing You.

Best known for his lead role in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise, Worthington has continued to land major roles, including Kevin Costner’s upcoming epic Horizon Parts 1 & 2. With his undeniable screen presence and intense performances, he is set to bring David Burroughs’ desperate escape and search for his son to life in a way that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
When Can We Expect I Will Find You?
While Netflix has yet to confirm a release date, the series is expected to arrive in late 2025 or early 2026. Given the massive popularity of Coben’s thrillers, I Will Find You is poised to be one of Netflix’s most highly anticipated crime dramas in the coming years.
With a heart-pounding plot, a proven creative team, and Sam Worthington at the helm, I Will Find You promises to be a must-watch for fans of gripping thrillers and emotional storytelling.
