Will it move forward or not? Speculation continues until production officially begins. Currently, there’s no cast or release date confirmed, but producer Amy Pascal has informed Deadline that they are aiming for a production start in July 2025. Pascal describes Gerwig’s vision as “a very new take on Narnia,” emphasizing that “it's all about rock and roll.” Sounds intriguing!
Just a day ago, Empire City reported that discussions between IMAX and Netflix had stalled amid concerns from exhibitors and studios about the potential fallout if Gerwig’s Narnia were to secure screens for a possible November 2026 release.
So, what do we actually know about the project? Not much at this point. It has been confirmed that Gerwig plans to direct two films, one of which may adapt C.S. Lewis’ prequel, The Magician’s Nephew, and there have been talks involving Saoirse Ronan for a starring role. Other than that, details remain under wraps.
