While Avatar fans are theorizing about what the third film in the saga, Fire and Ash, will be like, the first viewers have already shared their impressions. However, there is a nuance: these viewers are friends and relatives of James Cameron himself. And if you believe the director, his wife, Suzy Amis Cameron, spent four hours in tears after watching the film.
Cameron, a master of emotional punches, is known for making viewers cry. Titanic? Tears from the moment they hit the iceberg. Terminator 2? The lava thumbs up at the end touched even the most steadfast. Avatar and its sequel? Here we have the destruction of the Home Tree, and the death of Neytiri and Jake's eldest son. But, apparently, the third film promises to be the most emotional in the series.
Suzy, who avoided spoilers until the very end and did not watch excerpts, saw a rough version of the film last December. The reaction?
"She cried for four hours," Cameron says.
So much so that she couldn't even give any clear feedback.

“She was trying to pull herself together to talk about specific moments, but she started crying again. Finally, I said, ‘Honey, I have to go to bed. Let’s discuss this later,’” the director laughs.
Of course, Susie is not the most objective viewer. She is not only Cameron’s wife, but also part of his team. However, the director himself is sure that her reaction is a “litmus test” for the success of the film.
“She accurately predicted the success of Titanic, the first and second Avatar. So I trust her heart,” he says.
What is so touching about Fire and Ash? So far, we can only guess. Perhaps this will be another story about loss, love, or an environmental disaster. Or maybe Cameron has prepared something completely unexpected. One thing is for sure: viewers should stock up on tissues. And, judging by Susie’s reaction, more than one pack.
So brace yourself: when Avatar 3 comes out in 2025, there will be so many tears that Payakan could swim in them. Until then, all we can do is wait and hope that Cameron doesn't break our hearts again. Or maybe he does, but he does it beautifully.
