French director Alice Winocour’s latest drama, Couture, featuring Angelina Jolie, is making its way to the European Film Market (EFM). Originally titled Stitches, the film recently wrapped production in Paris and is set against the dazzling yet chaotic backdrop of Paris Fashion Week.
A Story of Fashion, Identity, and Womanhood
According to the official synopsis, Couture follows the lives of three women whose paths cross amid the whirlwind of the fashion world. Maxine Walker (Jolie), an American film director, Ada (Anyier Anei), a South Sudanese model, and Angèle (Ella Rumpf), a French makeup artist working behind the scenes, navigate personal struggles and the weight of global events. Exploring themes of resilience and identity, the film delves into "the souls and wounds of women’s bodies" through their intertwined stories.

Adding to the star-studded ensemble, French actor Louis Garrel joins the cast.
A Powerful Team Behind the Scenes
UTA Independent Film Group, which played a key role in financing the film, is handling global and North American rights, while HanWay Films oversees international distribution. Pathé, previously known for its collaboration with Winocour on Revoir Paris, will distribute the film in France. The film is a co-production with France 3 Cinéma and has received support from major industry players such as La Région Île-de-France, Canal+, Ciné+ OCS, France Télévisions, and Chanel.
The creative team includes cinematographer André Chemetoff, acclaimed costume designer Pascaline Chavanne (a multi-César nominee), and production designer Florian Sanson. It is produced by Jolie alongside Charles Gillibert (Bergman Island), Zhang Xin (History of Sound), and William Horberg (Milk) of Closer Media, with Bob Xu serving as executive producer.
