Fremantle confirmed the news, although specific plot details remain under wraps, aside from the revelation that the film will include a love story. Sorrentino has already penned the screenplay, and filming is expected to commence next spring. Annamaria Morelli will produce the film for The Apartment, in collaboration with Sorrentino’s own Numero 10 production company and PiperFilm, which will handle the film's release in Italy.
Servillo is well-known internationally for his work with Sorrentino, with the duo having collaborated on seven films to date. Their notable projects include "Loro," "Il Divo," "The Hand of God," and the Oscar-winning "The Great Beauty." Sorrentino's latest film, "Parthenope," is currently being released in Italy by PiperFilm. The film premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival, marking the seventh time Sorrentino has showcased his work at the prestigious event. His previous films at Cannes include "The Consequences of Love," "Il Divo," "This Must Be the Place," "The Great Beauty," and "Youth."
"Parthenope" follows the titular character, born in the sea of Naples in 1950, as she seeks happiness during her youthful summers, falling in love with her city and its vibrant inhabitants. The film was shot between Naples and Capri and features a talented ensemble cast, including Dario Aita, Celeste Dalla Porta, Silvia Degrandi, Isabella Ferrari, and Gary Oldman, among others. A24 is set to release "Parthenope" in the United States, while Picturehouse will manage its release in the UK.
