Sir Christopher Nolan is one of the most influential directors of our time, whose films gross billions and win Oscars. But as it turns out, even he has dreams that will never come true. One of them is to make a James Bond film.
According to Variety, after the release of Tenet in 2020, Nolan expressed interest in working on a new installment in the franchise. However, his plans were not destined to come true. The reason? The director’s demand for a final cut. Nolan, like several other top Hollywood directors, insists on complete control over the final version of his films.
But franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, who has been at the helm of the Bond franchise for many years, refused to make such concessions.

“Broccoli made it clear that Nolan’s demand for a final cut would not be met,” sources say. “She refused to give it to any director.”
Nolan ended up focusing on another project, Oppenheimer. The film not only grossed nearly a billion dollars at the box office, but also won seven Oscars, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, the Bond franchise was taken over by Amazon MGM after Broccoli and her partner Michael Wilson left their positions.
Now the future of the Bond franchise is in question. Amazon is planning a new film, and possibly a TV series. However, who will be the new Bond and who will lead the project is still unknown.

As for Nolan, his dream of Bond will probably remain just a dream. But given his talent and ambition, we can be sure that he will find a way to surprise us with something even more grandiose. And Bond? Well, there is always a chance for a new incarnation, albeit without Nolan behind the camera.
