A trailer for Disney’s highly anticipated live-action/CGI remake of Lilo & Stitch, set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025, has just been released. This adaptation does not appear to be a shot-for-shot recreation of the beloved original, which is promising for fans eager for a fresh take on the story. The return of Chris Sanders to voice Stitch, a character he helped bring to life in the original film, certainly adds an authentic touch to the new version.
Like Moana 2, this project was initially slated for a Disney+ streaming debut but has since been upgraded to a theatrical release, a move that’s expected to generate significant box office revenue during the summer months. The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, with a script penned by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. The cast features Maia Kealoha in the role of Lilo, while Sanders reprises his role as the chaotic alien Stitch. Joining them are notable actors such as Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, and Tia Carrere.
The animated magic of the Lilo & Stitch visually striking, showcasing an enchanting blend of colors, including the delightful use of pink clouds reminiscent of Dumbo. Nevertheless, it was Stitch, the mischievous, genetically-engineered extraterrestrial with blue fur and an insatiable love for chaos, who truly stole the show, promising audiences of all ages an exciting and heartwarming adventure once again.
