The family is back in action in the new trailer for Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The film stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic; Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.
The cast also features Ralph Ineson as the planet-devouring villain Galactus, Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer, along with Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and John Malkovich.
Previously, two iterations of the Fantastic Four were released by 20th Century Fox before Disney acquired the studio and aimed to integrate Marvel’s First Family into the MCU. In the 2000s, Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis portrayed the heroes in two films. A poorly received 2015 reboot featured Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell.
Hints of the Fantastic Four have appeared in the MCU. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, John Krasinski briefly appeared as Mister Fantastic before meeting a violent end. Additionally, Chris Evans reprised his role as Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine, only to face a similar fate.
