Love a good chill down your spine? June 2025 has a whole bouquet of horror films in store — from the fact-based The Ritual starring Al Pacino to Japanese mysticism where happiness turns into a curse. We've picked five of the most intriguing releases so you’ll know what to catch in cinemas — or stream at home once it gets dark.
The Ritual: Pacino vs. the Demon
The Ritual, starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens, tells the real-life story of an exorcism performed on a young woman named Emma Schmidt. But this is more than just horror — it’s a dive into psychological and spiritual drama. Pacino plays Father Theophilus Riesinger, while Stevens takes on the role of his partner. Each man sees Emma’s condition differently, and that clash of perspectives adds a unique intensity to the film. Premieres June 6.
Dangerous Animals: A Serial Killer and Sharks
The sharks aren’t even the scariest part. The main monster here is a psychopath with a camera who films his victims as they’re devoured by ocean predators. Jai Courtney plays the charismatic killer, and Hassie Harrison is the woman fighting to survive in a trap in the middle of the sea. The story unfolds almost entirely in one location — which only heightens the terror. In cinemas from June 6.
I Don’t Understand You: A Comedy That Scares
A married couple from Los Angeles, who don’t speak Italian, find themselves in an absurd and deadly situation. After a vacation accident, they try to cover up a body — but nothing goes according to plan. This is a horror story where fear walks hand in hand with miscommunication and wildly poor decisions. A perfect horror film for those who love to laugh while being scared. Also premieres June 6.
Best Regards to All : A Disturbing Japanese Visit
A young nurse travels to visit relatives in a rural village — only to discover that the locals have a very unsettling idea of happiness. The closer she gets to the truth, the more terrifying things become. Best Regards to All are is a slow-burning, atmospheric horror that turns comfort into nightmare. Premieres on Shudder in mid-June.
Predator: Killer of Killers: Blood in Animation
The predators are back — this time in an animated action format for adults. They’ll be hunting humanity’s greatest warriors across time — from Vikings to World War II soldiers. Dan Trachtenberg, director of Prey, is on board as co-director. Expect plenty of blood, spectacle, and nothing remotely kid-friendly. Streaming on Hulu starting June 6.
