In the movie Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Nick Stahl played the role of John Connor, replacing Edward Furlong, who became famous in this role in Judgment day. The reason for the substitution turned out to be more than sad: Furlong was fired due to problems with illegal substances.
The actor signed a contract to participate in the third film, and one of the points was "prohibition of any drugs", literally. However, on the same evening, celebrating his return to the role, he overdosed and lost consciousness.
Later, Furlong admitted that he was in a pretty heavy addiction, which he was in no hurry to fight, and also called the loss of the role "shameful," but clarified that he deserved it, SlashFilm reported.:
"It was the worst luck, and maybe the best... I was already on the road to decline in many ways, so maybe if I had this [Terminator 3], it would have been even worse."
