Jay-Z and Beyoncé Attend the Premiere of ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ to Support Their Daughter Blue Ivy Carter: One Day After A Sexual Abuse Lawsuit

Jay-Z and Beyoncé graced the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ on Monday night to cheer on their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

The 12-year-old lends her voice to Kiara, the daughter of Simba (voiced by Donald Glover) and Nala (voiced by Beyoncé), in this prequel to the 2019 photorealistic remake of Disney's ‘The Lion King.’ Glover and Beyoncé also reprise their roles from the original remake.

Jay-Z made a surprise appearance on the red carpet just one day after being named in a civil lawsuit alleging that he and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000. The lawsuit, initially filed in October with Combs as the only defendant, was refilled on Sunday to include Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.

In a statement addressing a lawsuit on Sunday, Jay-Z described the claims as ‘idiotic’ and referred to them as a ‘blackmail attempt’ from a lawyer named Tony Buzbee. He expressed concern for his family, stating, ‘My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to explain to our children, one of whom is old enough that her friends will likely see the press and ask about these claims, the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to face such things at their young age. It’s unfair to expect them to comprehend the shocking malice aimed at destroying families and the human spirit.’

Before the ‘Mufasa’ premiere screening in L.A., Beyoncé and Blue Ivy took the stage alongside their fellow cast members while director Barry Jenkins delivered opening remarks.
