Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban became the only film in the franchise where Voldemort was never shown. However, this did not make the film any worse. Viewers particularly noted the spirit of the film, in which the main characters had already become teenagers. This is why many fans still consider The Prisoner of Azkaban to be the best in the entire series of films.
However, the theatrical version of the film lost a significant number of scenes that were envisioned by director Alfonso Cuarón. We have gathered some of them.
Bus and Bird
At the very beginning of the film, when Harry is running away from the Dursleys, he boards the 'Knight Bus.' In a cut scene, Potter asks the driver if it is dangerous to operate such the vehicle. The driver cheerfully replies that there hasn't been a single accident in the past week.
In another scene, Hagrid tries to shoo away a pesky little bird and even attempts to swat the creature. However, such cruelty would not align with the gentle nature of the giant. Nevertheless, the Whomping Willow takes care of the bird for him.
Hogsmeade and Sirius
Potter was very upset about not being able to go to Hogsmeade, so there was a scene in the film where Ron and Hermione, upon returning from the village, vividly described their visit. Granger quickly realized that such revelations only upset her friend and tried to smooth things over.
Additionally, viewers were meant to see how Sirius could enter the Gryffindor common room. He easily climbed the stairs and said the correct password. However, that night, Harry spent a long time looking at pictures of his parents and couldn't fall asleep. When the hero realized that his Sneakoscope was signaling a threat, he startled Black, who was already hovering a dagger over Ron's bed.
