Warner Bros is officially reviving one of its most iconic romantic thrillers: The Bodyguard, the 1992 box office smash that starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. The remake will be directed by Sam Wrench, known for the global concert phenomenon Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, with a script by Jonathan A. Abrams, writer of Clint Eastwood’s courtroom drama Juror No. 2.
The original film, directed by Mick Jackson and written by Lawrence Kasdan, became a cultural milestone, grossing $411 million worldwide and earning two Oscar nominations. Its soundtrack — featuring classics like 'I Will Always Love You' and 'Run to You' — remains the best-selling of all time and a defining moment in pop music history.
Casting for the remake is still under wraps, but anticipation is building. Given Wrench’s connection to Swift and the role’s musical demands, fans are already speculating about who might step into Houston’s legendary shoes.

Warner Bros’ co-heads of film, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, confirmed the remake as part of a broader push to reimagine classic titles. Alongside The Bodyguard, projects in the pipeline include a new Matrix film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and reboots of Practical Magic, The Goonies, and more.
With a timeless love story, iconic music, and a modern creative team, The Bodyguard is set for a dramatic return to the spotlight — and a whole new audience to fall for it.
