Game of Thrones fans, alert: The latest spinoff from Westeros is coming your way! A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has officially been greenlit, and none other than the boss himself has given it his seal of approval.
George R. R. Martin recently shared a blog post where he noted that he’s seen all six episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and loved them, a big contrast to his usual feedback on Game of Thrones spinoffs. The show is set to premiere on HBO this fall, and Martin also confirmed that season 2 is already in the works, adapting The Sworn Sword, the next Dunk & Egg story.
“The series will make its debut later this year, I am now told. How late, I could not say. Maybe in the fall. I hope you will love the show as much as I do. Meanwhile, we’ll be moving on to The Sworn Sword, the second tale of Dunk & Egg”.
Let’s recall that before George R. R. Martin has shared his disappointment with parts of the Game of Thrones series, especially after it passed his books. While he praised the acting and production, he felt the later seasons rushed the story and missed the depth of the books. Martin has also said the show outpaced his writing, changing the direction of some characters.
