Despite the fact that the final part was released in theaters over 10 years ago, the Harry Potter film franchise has been, and continues to be, one of the most discussed phenomena in the industry, while fans of J.K. Rowling's books are still trying to find new meanings in unexpected plot twists. Unlike the books, the films left many mysteries unexplored, including the fate of the Malfoy family — and it wasn't until nearly 15 years after the franchise ended that fans found the answer.
The second part of Deathly Hallows ignored the Malfoys' story.
For anyone who has ever read or watched Harry Potter, it’s probably unnecessary to be reminded that Draco Malfoy's parents, with whom Harry studied at Hogwarts, were allies of Voldemort, and later, Draco himself joined them. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 concludes with what fans had been waiting for years — the death of the Dark Lord and the fall of his empire of evil. The film then transports viewers into a distant future, where Harry sends his own children off to Hogwarts and meets Draco Malfoy at the station — but that’s where all mention of the character and his story ends.
The Malfoys, as it turns out, also had a happy ending — to the joy or disappointment of fans.
Since the film was released in 2011, fans have been troubled by the uncertainty of what happened to the Malfoys after Voldemort's defeat. Recently, those who clearly paid attention to every little detail mentioned in the books came to the rescue: in response to the prevailing question, one user shared that, according to J.K. Rowling herself, the Malfoys escaped punishment and imprisonment in Azkaban because they revealed the names of all the Death Eaters after Harry's battle with Voldemort. Harry himself vouched for Narcissa, who, in an attempt to save him, lied to Voldemort about him being dead. Another fan added that Draco also got off lightly — thanks to the wealth his parents had amassed, he could afford not to work and thus lived peacefully in the family mansion with his wife and son.
