The duo of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck is breaking up. The star-studded collab, who have enjoyed great success together in numerous films, is parting ways this time around. The reason is quite simple.
In Ben Affleck's latest directorial venture, the Netflix thriller Animals, he was supposed to star alongside Matt Damon, with whom he had previously worked on multiple occasions. However, due to Damon's commitments to a new project — Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey — the duo will not be appearing together on screen. Per Deadline, Affleck will instead take the lead role in the film, which he is also directing himself. It's also been revealed that another famous star, Gillian Anderson, will join him in the project, although her exact role has yet to be disclosed.

Animals will be based on a script written by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray, with Ray having notable credits including Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games, and Terminator:Dark Fate. Plot details are being kept under wraps.
Production is set to begin soon, with Los Angeles slated as the filming location once the rest of the cast is confirmed.
