The skill that Brad Pitt possesses literally saved his new F1 film. This might sound strange, as it’s a seemingly simple thing that most people have mastered. But there’s a twist.
Per Cinemablend, to enhance the authenticity of the racing scenes, it was decided not to replace the actors with stunt drivers. Instead, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris took the wheel of specially designed F1 cars that only professional drivers could handle.
In a virtual interview, director John Krasinski revealed that Brad Pitt’s talent as a driver came as a huge surprise to none other than Lewis Hamilton himself who lead the training process.

"I don’t know where he got that from or if he was born with it, but he rides motorcycles, which I think has something to do with it. He’s just a very talented, naturally gifted driver, which, for Lewis, after that first meeting, gave him a lot of confidence that we might have a shot at pulling this off."
However, Krasinski also noted that despite Pitt's skills, the team still had to train extensively.
"We actually bought six F2 cars, real F2 race cars, and worked with Mercedes AMG, the Formula One team, and their engineers to build real race cars that could carry our camera equipment, recorders, and transmitters for making this film. So every time you see Brad or Damson driving, they're driving on their own in one of these real race cars on a real F1 track. That’s how we approached making the film."

F1 is scheduled for theatrical release by Warner Bros. Pictures on June 27, 2025, in the United States and Canada, and on June 25, 2025, internationally.
