A24 Studios has released a trailer for the dramatic horror thriller Opus, starring Emmy Award winner Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and John Malkovich, who needs no introduction. The film will be released in cinemas on March 14.
According to the plot, a young journalist (Edebiri) working for a major magazine unexpectedly receives an invitation to a villa where a world pop star (Malkovich) lives as a recluse. Many other colorful characters, who are devoted fans of the charismatic musician, also arrive there for a gala reception. Finding herself surrounded by these people, the main character begins to notice with horror that some sinister action is unfolding around her.
The cast is rounded out by such renowned actors as Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets), Murray Bartlett (White Lotus) and Amber Midthunder (Prey).
The director and screenwriter is Mark Anthony Green, for whom this is his debut feature film. It is noteworthy that he previously worked at GQ magazine. The world premiere of Opus will take place at the largest independent film festival Sundance.
