Despite his impressive age, Al Pacino has no plans to retire — and we couldn't be happier about it. What's more, it's already confirmed that the Oscar-winning actor will be joining the cast of director Gus Van Sant's upcoming hostage thriller Dead Man's Wire.
Per Deadline, the synopsis of the film reveals a gripping true story: On the morning of February 8, 1977, 44-year-old Anthony G. "Tony" Kiritsis walked into the office of Richard O. Hall, president of the Meridian Mortgage Company, and took him hostage. Strapped to Hall was a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, rigged with a "dead man's wire" that would go off if Tony was taken down.
What followed was a tense stand-off that captured global attention, as Tony demanded $5 million, immunity from prosecution, and a public apology from the Hall family — convinced he had been robbed of what was rightfully his. Dead Man's Wire tells the shocking true story of a hostage crisis unlike any other.

The screenplay comes from Austin Kolodney, who joins the previously announced cast, including Bill Skarsgard, Dacre Montgomery, Myha'la, Cary Elwes, and Colman Domingo.
