Twenty-two years after Freaky Friday premiered, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite as mother and daughter in the sequel, Freakier Friday. The story continues years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) initially dealt with their identity crisis. Now, Anna is a mother with her own daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, and as they navigate the complexities of merging two families, Tess and Anna find that history might repeat itself.
In the first trailer, a fortune teller (Vanessa Bayer) reads their palms and notes the intertwining of their life lines while the duo tries to dismiss their past experience. She warns them that what they learned could resurface. As Chappell Roan’s HOT TO GO! plays, Tess and Anna face a chaotic body swap again, now involving two additional people. Chad Michael Murray makes a “grand entrance” as Jake, rolling in on a motorcycle.
Notable appearances include Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, while eagle-eyed fans spot Elaine Hendrix from The Parent Trap (1998). Directed by Nisha Ganatra and based on Mary Rodgers' book, Freakier Friday hits theaters on August 8.
