The Substance: What Is It About?

Elisabeth Sparkle, once a celebrated star, faces the harsh realities of aging and the entertainment industry's demands. In a desperate attempt to reclaim her youth and relevance, she resorts to a black-market drug that temporarily creates a younger, more vibrant version of herself. The transformation is not only physical but emotional, as Elisabeth struggles with the idea of who she really is versus the persona she must project to stay relevant. This rejuvenation leads to unforeseen consequences, blurring the lines between her true self and the identity she presents to the world.
