Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is officially returning for a third season on Prime Video. The announcement follows Season 2’s explosive finale, which left viewers with major cliffhangers and a clear path for the story’s continuation. The second season, which premiered on August 29 and concluded on October 3, saw Sauron (Charlie Vickers) raising an orc army and overpowering the elves at their stronghold, Eregion. But with their own rings of power, the elves and dwarves stand united, ready for a fierce confrontation in Season 3.
Filming Begins for Season 3
The third season is now in pre-production at Shepperton Studios near London, with filming set to start this spring. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, shared his excitement:
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and we’re thrilled that a third season is underway."
He praised the creative team’s vision and promised that Season 3 will plunge viewers deeper into the rich lore of Middle-earth.
The Creative Minds Behind the Series
Charlotte Brändström, known for her direction in Seasons 1 and 2, returns as an executive producer and director. She is joined by Sanaa Hamri, who also returns to direct, while experienced director Stefan Schwartz joins the series.
The series is helmed by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, with executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and Charlotte Brändström. The production team includes producer Matthew Penry-Davey and co-producers Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee.
As Middle-earth’s conflicts intensify, The Rings of Power Season 3 promises to deliver epic battles, rich storytelling, and an unforgettable continuation of the beloved saga.
