The animated film Flow caused a real sensation at the recent Oscar ceremony. No one was betting much on the film by the Latvian director, which has no dialogue. Even the Golden Globe awards did not make bookmakers pay attention to the film: the victory was predicted for Inside Out 2 or The Wild Robot.
But it was Flow that became the best animated film of the year according to the jury of American film academies. And the other day, the director and creator of the film Gints Zilbalodis responded to this award in a funny way.
Plot of the animated film Flow
The film describes the adventures of a cat who finds himself far from home during a major flood. He barely manages to reach dry land, but then the animal has to survive. Along the way, he meets dogs, a capybara, a whale and a secretary bird, a lemur and other animals. Together they form a team that tries to cope with the consequences of the flood and save life in a changed world.
What was added to the cartoon Flow
After the award ceremony, the director and scriptwriter decided that it was necessary to play up the Oscar in the plot. In Flow there was a very short episode in which a lemur hastily collects various, at first glance, not the most necessary objects in a basket - like empty bottles, a branch and a spoon.
A pleasant reference is that he also finds an Oscar statuette there and puts it next to himself. When the cat notices this, he immediately goes to the award and with a deft movement of his paws throws it back into the basket. At the end of the short episode, Lemur carefully hugs the statuette. Before the distribution of the Oscars, there was no such scene in the film.
