Ridley Scott, at 80, is still going strong. After the mixed reception and less-than-warm reviews from critics of his recent films Napoleon and Gladiator 2, the director is moving on to shoot a new project. And the cast of this film is a true star-studded lineup!
Per Deadline, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Guy Pearce are in talks to join Jacob Elordi in Ridley Scott's upcoming post-apocalyptic film The Dog Stars. The movie is based on Peter Heller's 2012 novel, with a script by Mark L. Smith. It follows Hig, the last survivor, living with his dog, Jasper, and a grumpy man named Bangley.
The novel's official synopsis reads: "Hig's wife is gone, his friends are dead, and he lives in a hangar with his dog, Jasper, and a gun-toting misanthrope named Bangley. But when a random transmission comes through his 1956 Cessna radio, it sparks hope that a better life exists beyond their perimeter. Risking everything, he follows the static-broken trail, only to find something both better and worse than he could ever hope for."

Brolin will play Bangley, Qualley will portray Cima, a doctor-in-training, and Pearce will play Cima's father, Pops. This is the second time Scott has worked with Brolin and Pearce after American Gangster and Prometheus. Filming will begin in Italy this April.
