Technology in cinema has long since taken such a leap that special effects no longer impress anyone. But sometimes, even actors can’t help themselves and, like children, find themselves in awe of what the magic of filmmaking can achieve.
According to GamesRadar+, a small moment of wonder happened to Nicholas Hoult during the filming of James Gunn’s new Superman. On stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the actor recalls experiencing "the magic of cinema" while watching David Corenswet on set as the Man of Steel.
"I have a very clear memory. I was on a set where David was dressed as Superman. He was flying on to the set and the bright sun was illuminating him from behind – and it was one of those moments where I felt like I was witnessing the magic of cinema in first person and in real time."

He recalled trying to stay in character, but a warm feeling and a smile crept in. In that moment, he thought, "This is magic". Looking around, he saw the same expression on everyone’s faces.
Nicholas Hoult portrays the antagonist in Superman: Legacy, the highly anticipated film directed by James Gunn, slated for release in 2025.
