A legendary Pirates of the Caribbean character might be making a comeback in the franchise's new installment — and it's not Jack Sparrow. The infamous rival of the Black Pearl's captain, who has died twice, could rise from the dead once again to give Jack a hard time.
The internet is once again buzzing about another Pirates of the Caribbean sequel and the potential return of Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. However, Depp himself has repeatedly expressed his unwillingness to reprise the role — especially after Disney cut ties with him following his legal battle with his ex-wife.
Meanwhile, another beloved actor from the franchise, Geoffrey Rush, who portrayed Captain Barbossa, would love the chance to return and delight fans once more.
While promoting his new film The Rule of Jenny Pen, the legendary Geoffrey Rush spoke with MovieWeb’s George Edelman about the possibility of returning.

"I have had conversations with Jerry [Bruckheimer] saying, you know, [Barbossa] could come back like Hamlet's father as a ghost. I said, there's dramatic possibilities in that, but also comedic ones. He just comes back for a couple of scenes to annoy the sh*t out of Jack. And that would be a sort of cherry, that would be a button on the whole storyline," Rush said.
