Featuring June Squibb, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Erin Kellyman, and Jessica Hecht, Eleanor the Great follows the journey of a 90-year-old woman who endeavours to rebuild her life after the passing of her best friend, prompting her to return to New York City.
At 95, Squibb has just come off a notable performance in last year’s indie sleeper hit Thelma. She has been acting since the 1950s and received an Oscar nomination in 2014 for her supporting role in Alexander Payne’s Nebraska.
Eleanor the Great's producers opted to forgo potential premieres at Berlin, Sundance, and SXSW, believing instead that it stands a good chance of being accepted for this May’s Cannes.
