The fifth episode of Dune: The Prophecy marked a turning point in the storyline. Shortly after its release, news broke that the series would be renewed for another season, especially after we finally discovered the identity of Desmond Hart—the mysterious warrior from Arrakis who survived an encounter with a sandworm.
Desmond Hart: Hero or Villain?
The central moment of the episode was the revelation of Desmond Hart’s origins, portrayed by Travis Fimmel. In the early episodes, he appeared as a mysterious warrior who had survived a confrontation with a sandworm on Arrakis. But in episode five, the secret of his bloodline takes center stage: Desmond is revealed to be connected to two powerful dynasties—the Atreides and the Harkonnens.
He is the son of Tula and the Atreides she killed. This unexpected twist sheds light on the reasons behind his conflict with the Sisterhood and explains his hatred for the order. His own mother destroyed his father and abandoned him, leaving him to survive on his own in the harshest conditions.
The Sisterhood and Secrets of the Past
In the episode, Leela, one of the main characters, begins to show abilities linked to her ancestors' genetic memory. Under the influence of spice melange, she becomes a vessel for Mother Superior Raquella, making it clear that a future conflict between her and Hart is inevitable. He is a staunch opponent of machines, while she wields their power to achieve her goals.

Politics, Betrayal, and a Virus
Amid the main drama of the series, classic intrigues unfold. Keirana Atreides is arrested as a traitor, the Emperor betrays his wife, who, in turn, sleeps with Hart for revenge. Interestingly, it is Desmond who forms the first Sardaukar unit, the same force that one of his descendants, Paul Atreides, will fight in the future.
Meanwhile, it is revealed that the Sisters were dying from a genetically engineered virus resembling the one artificial intelligence used to kill humans in the series' backstory. It seems that Hart himself might also be using it, leaving the mystery of his resurrection unsolved for the second season. However, the season finale is still ahead.
What to Expect in the Next Season?
The second season promises even more intrigue, large-scale conflicts, and unexpected revelations. The series not only expands the legendary Dune universe but also immerses viewers in a complex and captivating world where every action has consequences.
