Freya Allan, best known for her role as Ciri in Netflix’s The Witcher, will take on the challenging role of legendary British pop star Marianne Faithfull in the upcoming biopic Faithfull. The film, currently in pre-production, promises to explore the highs, lows, and ultimate comeback of the singer’s tumultuous life.
Directed by Zaida Bergroth, acclaimed for her work on Tove, and co-written with producer Julia Taylor-Stanley, Faithfull is a long-awaited project now gaining momentum. Tragically, the film comes shortly after Faithfull’s passing on January 30, 2025, adding a poignant layer to the biopic’s narrative.

Faithfull’s meteoric rise began in 1964 with the hit single 'As Tears Go By,' co-written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Her relationship with Jagger captivated the media during the vibrant 1960s, and the biopic will delve into both her musical journey and personal struggles. Jojo Macari from Sex Education will portray Jagger, adding to the film’s allure.
Faithfull’s life took a dark turn in the 1970s as she battled addiction and homelessness, only to make a triumphant return with her 1979 album Broken English, earning a Grammy nomination. Faithfull will chronicle this turbulent journey, highlighting Allan’s departure from fantasy roles to a deeply human story.

Currently being pitched at the European Film Market in Berlin, Faithfull aims to bring the vibrancy of 1960s pop culture to the screen while honoring the singer’s legacy. With Allan at the helm, this biopic promises an emotional and captivating portrayal of an icon lost too soon.
